Exciting New Artworks
Contemporary American artists Susan Hostetler, Leslie Kahl and Stephen Bures will display their art at Gallery AA/B's "Wood, Clay, Paper" Mixed Media Group Show March 15 through April 27, 2001. New paintings, including hand-painted screens, by Hostetler will be exhibited as well as recent color photography by Kahl and ceramic pieces by Bures. All artwork is for sale and appropriate for home or office display.
Screen art is a new development for popular painter Susan Hostetler. The screens can range in size from small table-top pieces to larger floor-standing work. As always, the intricate imagery is based on nature and on the artist's travel sketches, which range from rainforests to mountainous tropics. Hostetler's recent gouache paintings on handmade paper, as well as oils on canvas, will also be on exhibit.
Leslie Kahl is a photographer who "paints with light." Kahl creates stunning and sometimes funky color compositions, all "in camera," making ingenious use of gels, flashlights and dramatic lighting, entirely without the aid of computer manipulation. Her recent prints depict vivid florals, still lifes, and landscapes.
Stephen Bures is an accomplished master of ceramic fine art . His elegant vessels, which recall ancient Chinese and Korean works, involve many layers and firings of colored glazes onto pieces which are both useful and purely decorative. Table-top pieces as well as wall-mounted tile work will be displayed.Gallery AA/B is located on the second floor of a charmingly restored antique residence in the Lower Mills Village district of Milton. Exposed beams, antique fireplaces and hardwood floors add to the ambiance of the gallery's exhibition space and displays. Art Advisory/Boston is a semi-private gallery and consulting firm in its twelfth year of exhibiting and placing original art by local and regional artists in corporate and private collections.
